Director, Diagnostics Advisory Board

Professor Asbjørn Mohr Drewes is a widely recognized expert in gastroenterology and pain.  He serves as a Director of the ACCOY Pharmaceuticals’ Diagnostics Advisory Board.  He has always been fully employed as a clinician.  However, since 1999, he has also been Professor (Chair) of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Aalborg University Hospital in Denmark, and is Director of the research group Mech-Sense.  His current research interests are: Gastrointestinal pain in humans, experimental methods to evoke pain, referred pain mechanisms, brain processing of pain and clinical pain studies. Electrophysiology, pharmacological studies including PK/PD modeling, physiology of the gastrointestinal tract, clinical gastroenterological studies and technology development targeted to understand gastrointestinal physiology in humans. Prof. Drewes is the author of more than 480 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reviews and has presented more than 500 oral and poster presentations at scientific meetings, mainly within gastroenterology, visceral pain, analgesics, neurophysiology and technology development. He has also participated in more than 200 scientific meetings and congresses, including many as chairman or organizer.  He has participated as Principal Investigator in more than 50 studies (phase I, II and III) mainly within pain treatment and gastroenterology.
